overwatering is not bad during and after transplanting.
Your palm tree is in shock or will be in shock. When i transplanted my flowers to a hanging pot they would turn brown for a month but then come back to normal. I think thats just because the roots are getting accustomed to the new type of soil...
but definately thoruoghly water your plants or palms after planting them.
